Composer, conductor, enfant terrible! Zacharias S. Falkenberg is not only a versatile composer covering a wide range of genres such as classical music, Jazz, Rock and Avantgarde, which he combines with great audacity. He is also a fierce bandleader and orchestral conductor doing things against the grain.

Zacharias is quoted as an ‘undeniable expert’ with a ‘high level of craftsmanship’ by Grammy- Award winning conductor Jules Buckley and ‘unconventional’, ‘exciting’ and ‘brilliantly successful in a field where a lot of other composers failed’ by various press. Grammy Award winner Jules Buckley about Falkenberg: ‘Zacharias (...) is a curious composer and arranger that thinks outside the box. (…) Besides the high level of craftsmanship Zacharias also exposes a broad and very formative conceptual range of sounds.’

As a composer & conductor he stood on stages like the Elbphilharmonie, Tivoli/Vredenburg, LantarenVenster, XJAZZ and Reeperbahnfestival. In recent times he is known for his collaboration and artistic direction for ÄTNA feat. NDR Bigband, also working with Henrik Schwarz for the projects Plunderphonia and CCMYK. Other projects include Them Caged Dogs.
Together with Soundwalk Collective he co-wrote the soundtrack for academy-award winning director Laura Poitras' movie All The Beauty And The Bloodshed, which earned an Oscar nomination and won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.

Zacharias about his music: ‘It’s sonic adventures raging against sonic hearing habits: a bit familiar but nevertheless alien. Growing up around half the world and witnessing the variety of all kind of human beings, I am myself a bit familiar but nevertheless alien.’

For the HEAVEN HEAVEN session Zacharias did prepare a somewhat mixed setlist of older, newer and unreleased music. The main focus of his session being on the Cycles Suite, which was also released as an EP in 2022. ‘The music reminds of some dystopian synth soundtrack with some glitchy beats and synthwave sounds.’ Adding to this mood, other chosen songs are a re-imagination of one of his piano songs ‘Imperfect Maladies No.1’, and an unreleased trance/grindcore track of an unreleased album written in 2019.

All music is played mainly on the Prophet Synthesizer and my Maschine.
